2つの場所に設置されたインフォメーションセンターをワークショップの拠点として製作しました。一方には電話番号が書かれたボードに次のテキストが書かれています。「080-xxxx-xxxxに電話をしてみてください。あなたの記憶に残っている風景を、誰かが絵ハガキにしてくれるかもしれません。」参加者が電話をすると、もう一方のインフォメーションセンターに設置された電話がなり、そこで電話を取った人は、相手の話から風景を想像してポストカードを描きます。

この作品においてインフォメーションセンターは都市への入り口で、その出口は観光地によくあるギフトショップへと繋がります。旅先での出来事を現地のポストカードに書き留めて誰かに送る。そこに書かれる何気ないストーリーこそ、実はその場所のイメージを作り出しているのかもしれません。普段は目に見えない、他者の記憶に耳を傾けてみましょう。もしかしたら思いがけないほど美しいストーリーが隠れているかもしれません。

 

Information centers in two locations were produced as bases for the workshop. On one side is a board with a phone number on which the following text is written. ”Please call 080-xxxx-xxxx. Someone might be able to make a postcard of a landscape you remember.” When a participant calls, a phone located at the other information center rings, and the person who picks up the phone there imagines a landscape from the caller’s story and draws a postcard.

In this work, the information center is the entrance to the city, and its exit leads to a gift store, a common sightseeing spot. The events of the traveler’s destination are written down on a local postcard and sent to someone else. The casual story written on the postcard may in fact create an image of the place. Listen to the memories of others, which are usually invisible. Perhaps there is an unexpectedly beautiful story hidden in there.
